Born in the Netherlands, Eddie Van Halen become one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century. He began his musical journey, like many other musicians, with the piano. After moving to the USA in the 1960s with his family, Eddie and his brother would spend many hours understanding classical music and the complexities of music's language. Interestingly, Eddie apparently could not read sheet music, but it did not stop him developing the keen ear and talent that helped to curate some of the most influential sounds of the 20th Century. The rock 'n' hall of famer would eventually swap his keys for drum sticks and then guitar strings and 'rock-out' with various musical projects in high school.
Eddie formed Van Halen in the early '70s with his brother and by the close of the decade they were offered a contract with Warner records. The rest they say his history as Van Halen would go onto sell over 80 million albums worldwide and change 80s music forever with their number one single 'Jump'.
Eddie is also known as a guitar legend, and considered by many, to be one of the greatest of all times. He pioneered 'tapping' and complete sound experimentation when it comes to certain string types, pick ups and guitar bodies.
